Good Luck Charlie Update

The star of Good Luck Charlie isn’t even 2 years old yet and she’s got plenty of fans. Her biggest admirers are her co-stars on the new Disney family sitcom, which airs its latest new episode this Saturday.

Good Luck Charlie tells the story of the Duncan family adjusting to a new arrival baby Charlotte, who is also known as Charlie. Played by Mia Talerico, Charlie is left in the care of her three older siblings when both parents decide to go back to work.

Mom Amy Duncan is a nurse and dad Bob Duncan is an exterminator who drives a truck with a giant bug sculpture on top. Bridgit Mendler plays the role of the big sister Teddy, who is making a video diary for Charlie. Kids may remember Mendler as Juliet from Disney’s hit series Wizards of Waverly Place.

Going ga ga for the baby

On a recent visit to the set of this funny new show, the kids had much praise for their diaper-wearing co-star. Mendler, who is as sweet in person as she is on TV, expressed how much fun it is to have a baby co-star.

“We did not expect Mia to be such a well-behaved baby,” she said. “She’s been just incredible. She’s really social with everybody. She wants to have a good time and play with all of us.”

According to the cast, Mia is a very capable actress.

“She just has this really innate talent,” said Jason Dolley, who plays P.J., the oldest sibling. Dolley was last seen as Newt on Corey in the House. “She’s a great television baby; an amazing, adorable, cute baby.”

Bradley Steven Perry, who plays brother Gabe, a 5th grader, is surprised by her acting skills.

“We all say she reads the script,” Perry said. “She does stuff that’s in the script that you don’t think she’ll do.”

The cast of kids say they enjoy the time they get to spend with each other both on and off the show.

“I think I’ve been really lucky to have such a great group of people on the show,” Mendler said. “We all have bonded and we feel like a family. That makes work that much more fun.”

The group tends to hang out with each other off the set, too. Says Dolley, some of their favorite activities together include bowling and go-kart racing.

“We’ve really sort of become our own family on the set,” Dolley said. He also made a prediction. “I think people will tune into this and I think families will all really enjoy watching this. I think adults will laugh, kids will laugh. There’s something in it for everyone.”

Bridgit Mendler talks ‘Good Luck Charlie’

You may know her as Juliet from Disney’s hit series Wizards of Waverly Place, but Bridgit Mendler will be front and center in the young Hollywood spotlight, as she stars in her new Disney television series called Good Luck Charlie (Premiering TONIGHT on Disney at 8:30pm). We had the opportunity to talk to Bridgit, who chatted about her new role, as well as what it’s like being in the Disney family!
Bridgit stars as Teddy in Good Luck Charlie, along side Jason Dolley who plays her brother. “It’s about this family of 5 who has another child, and the parents have to go back to work so the kids have to help out with the baby, and all sorts of chaos ensues.” Bridgit said. “It’s been really fun to do.”
Bridgit even revealed that she often relates to her character, being a teen girl. “I’ve had a lot of fun with some of Teddy’s more nerdy moments – I’m kind of a nerd myself, like in one of the episodes Teddy had to be a bad dancer which I had some fun with, got to give her some nerdy dance moves and just little stuff like that where Teddy isn’t as cool as she might seem.”
With the premiere happening tonight, Bridgit is super excited for people to see what she’s been working on. “I’m so excited! It was so surreal for me to actually become part of the Disney family, and I’ve been watching Disney channel all my life so it was just so crazy to actually become a part of it.” She confessed. “We’ve been working on the show since the end of August last year, and now things are gearing up for it to be released, and I’m so excited for everyone to actually be able to see what we’ve been working on.”
Even though Bridgit is good friends with the rest of the cast, she did say that she would love to have her real life friends join her on screen in an episode! “I’ve already had one of my really good friends guest star, so that was awesome to have her on the show. I would love to have my best friend on the show. She’s visited a couple of times, but she hasn’t actually been on it.”
“Generally we do live audience episodes and it’s really cool.” Bridgit said about filming the sitcom in front of a live studio audience. “What definitely puts me at ease is having all my lines memorized. If I don’t have my lines memorized and I go out there in front of the group of people, and I mess up, it’s kind of embarrassing. I wanna have all my lines down so I know what I’m doing in the scene, and I’m ready to go. “
Be sure to tune in to Disney tonight at 8:30pm to watch the show! Brigit also appears on the Disney Mania 7 CD, where she sings When She Loved Me. The CD is in stores now!

Good Luck Charlie, Episode 2, Premiered on Disney Channel, Starring Bridgit Mendler, Jason Dolley

Episode 2 of the teen sitcom Good Luck Charlie premiered on the Disney Channel Sunday night with Bridgit Mendler as the oldest sister Teddy and Jason Dolley starring as the oldest
sibling PJ. In this new Disney Channel show, Charlie (Mia Talerico) gets switched at the park with another baby due to the carelessness of her big brother PJ. Episode 2 of Good Luck Charlie saw more cute one-liners and zanyness from the Duncan family. In addition, there was more references to the waste elimination functions of babies.

Good Luck Charlie, Episode 2, Saw Charlie go Missing on the Disney Channel Program Starring Bridgit Mendler and Jason Dolley

Parents Amy (Leigh-Allyn Baker) and Bob (Eric Allan Kramer) are “going off the deep end” talking baby talk continuously, so Teddy suggests that the two have a “date night”, volunteering herself and brothers PJ and Gabe (Bradley Steven Perry) to help take care of the baby for a few hours. PJ takes Charlie to the park, and starts flirting with a girl named Emma, who’s got her baby brother with her, and whose stroller matches the one 9 month old Charlie is in. Meanwhile, Gabe tries to impress his sister with magic tricks, but he’s no good at it. When PJ arrives home, he realizes he has Emma’s brother, and the “expletive” almost hits the fan when Amy calls wanting to hear Charlie’s voice, so the Bridgit Mendler character talks baby talk to try to deceive her mother on Good Luck Charlie, Episode 2. PJ tried to call Emma, but the number he got was for a Chinese restaurant.

PJ, Gabe, and Teddy go back to the park and look for Charlie, and even enlist the help of an oafish and out of shape park entertainer named Captain Stretchee (who PJ interacted with earlier), who’ll help if he gets his palms “greased.” He tells the trio that he’s entertained for Emma’s big family, and that she lives nearby, so they go driving around trying to find Emma and the baby on Episode 2 of Good Luck Charlie, without success. The Jason Dolley character laments his dimwittedness, but Teddy says that they’re all in this together.

Jason Dolley: Bridgit Mendler’s Honey Hoax

On the premiere episode: “There’s the romance between Teddy (Bridgit Mendler) and Spencer (Shane Harper). We don’t know what’s going to happen with them but the goal is to get the first kiss. We’re all anticipating it, but if it doesn’t happen between them, you never know what could happen further down the line.”

On the pranks pulled on set: “There was one that I was not a part of. Bridgit and Bradley [Steven Perry] got one of guest cast good. They put honey on his the handle to his dressing room door. Then they put honey on the sick faucet and all over the paper towels. So everywhere he went to de-honey himself, he just ended up getting more honey.

On his favorite thing about the show: “I think it’s just the whole package of it. It’s a family show which I think people will enjoy watching with their whole family together. Even the setting on set is very much family oriented. We have two families — one off set and our new one on set. You can see on screen that we’re very family oriented and we really do feel like a real family. That’s really important to the show.”
