Good Luck Charlie Update!
The official site is up! :O And it looks AMAZING! Click the image below to go to the site!
In Disnology’s exclusive interview with Bridgit Mendler, the Good Luck Charlie star revealed that she does have more Disney projects coming up that she is very excited about.
She said, “I don’t know if I can tell about the stuff that is coming up, but there are a couple of other projects in the works. And yes, there are some Disney related projects that we can look forward to and hopefully I can say something about them soon.”
Bridgit also revealed how she landed the role on the JONAS episode “Wrong Song”.
“I was flying to New York, so I didn’t have time to go to L.A. and audition because I was living out of town at the time. So, I had to send in a tape. I didn’t think that I would actually get the part. I am really hard on myself, so maybe that was why. But I didn’t feel like it was a good audition at all. It took me forever to tape it and send it off and I was thinking ‘Oh, I am never going to get it’ and then I got a call and found out I got it. So, I was really excited about that.”
You can read the rest of the interview here. We wonder if we will see Bridgit in a Disney Channel Original Movie! There are so many to choose from like High School Musical 4, Den Brother, Avalon High and the list goes on.
Disnology Exclusive: Interview with Bridgit Mendler
I had the chance to chat with Bridgit Mendler, who is starring in the upcoming Disney Channel series Good Luck Charlie and she is also on the new Disneymania 7 CD.
We talked about her song, her new show, how she got the role on JONAS, the fact that she does have some exciting upcoming projects and a whole bunch of other stuff!
Bridgit was so nice and a lot of fun to talk to. I am so excited I had the chance! Enjoy the interview.
Disnology: You have a lot going on right now! Let’s start off talking about the Disneymania 7 CD. I listened to your song “When She Loved Me” and it’s great! What can you tell me about the song?
Bridgit: It’s a song from Toy Story 2. They actually presented it to me as an option. They let me pick out a song, but they showed me this one as an option and I immediately knew that was the song I wanted to do. I think it’s so beautiful and truly honest.
Disnology: When and how were you approached about singing on the CD?
Bridgit: A couple of months ago actually, probably about in October or November. My manager called me and told me I had the opportunity to sing for Disneymania and I thought that was so cool. I heard several of the CDs before, so to be a part of it is just great. So, we selected the song, set up a time to record it and I think we started recording it in December. We first did it in one key, so I came in maybe once or twice. We then decided to switch it to a different key and once we switched it to that key, it was literally only took about an hour and a half to two hours to record it. So, it moved pretty fast and it was a lot of fun to do.
Disnology: Have you always been interested in singing?
Bridgit: Yeah, I’ve been singing all my life, but it’s been more like a hobby for me. So it’s pretty cool that I am now able to actually make something of it. Hoepfully I can keep doing more singing stuff.Disnology: Is this basically your singing debut?
Bridgit: Yeah, I’ve done songs for some movies and TV shows before, but I haven’t ever done a song just for singing. So, this is kind of my debut. I am really excited.
Disnology: Let’s talk about Good Luck Charlie. The clips look really funny. What can you tell me about the show?
Bridgit: Well, it’s basically a traditional family comedy that families can watch together. It’s based on a family of 5 and the parents have another child, so as they go back to work, they need help with the new baby and some craziness happens. I think the nice thing about the show is how real it is to actual life. I have just had a lot of fun working on it. The directors are great. All the writers are great. We really do feel like our own little family there.
Disnology: Tell me a little about your character Teddy?
Bridgit: Teddy is really fun. She’s your normal teen and that’s one of the great things about her. She’s this funky kid, but she also has her nerdy moments. I’ve had a lot of fun playing her and making her not cool sometimes.
Disnology: What’s it like working with Jason Dolley and playing his sister?
Bridgit: We have had a lot of fun. He really is like a brother to me.
Disnology: When Jason first got on twitter, I saw you were the one that encouraged him. Do you enjoy using twitter to communicate with your fans?
Bridgit: I do and I am probably not as good about updating it as I should be. I haven’t done so much promotion, but have kept it more personal….like tidbits from my life. I’ll put up pictures and then a little bit of information. (Follow Bridgit on twitter!)
Disnology: Back to Good Luck Charlie…we keep hearing it debuts in April. Do we have an exact date yet? Fans are dying to know!
Bridgit: I’m not sure. I’ve heard some rumors and stuff, but I don’t want to be the one to say it and it’s not official yet. I can’t say any specific day, but I do know it’s premiering in April. (We now know it’s premiering on April 4th!)
Disnology: How did you end up getting a lead role in a Disney Channel series?
Bridgit: I first started off by acting on JONAS. I sent in a tape for that and I was very excited to get picked. I did a couple of episodes of Wizards of Waverly Place. Then they brought me in to audition for Good Luck Charlie. I did a chemistry read with Jason [Dolley] for a little while and then I ended up getting the part. I was so incredibly excited. I was jumping up and down and screaming. I was just so happy to get the part.
Disnology: How fun was it to work with the Jonas Brothers on JONAS?
Bridgit: It was so awesome to work with them. They were really nice guys. I remember the first time I came on set, we were recording the song for the show, so we really just dove right into it. But, I had a lot of fun working on that show.
Disnology: So, you said you sent in a tape to get that role. That’s great that sending in a tape can actually work!
Bridgit: Yeah, I was flying to New York, so I didn’t have time to go to L.A. and audition because I was living out of town at the time. So, I was really excited about that.
Disnology: The hour long series on Wizards “Wizards vs Werewolves” did amazing ratings wise and with the fans. What was it like shooting that episode? You turned into an old woman! We were so sad.
Bridgit: That episode was really fun with all the special effects and also some of the stunts. I got to do some of my own stunts, which was really cool to do. Getting to see the cast again was great. I hadn’t been on the show in awhile. I was really happy to be back and we got to do some really cool stuff.
Disnology: You have been involved in so much, I bet it’s been a whirlwind of craziness, but fun. Do you have anything else coming up that you can tell us about?
Bridgit: I don’t know if I can tell about the stuff that is coming up, but there are a couple of other projects in the works. And yes, there are some Disney related projects that we can look forward to and hopefully I can say something about them soon.
Disnology: How did you get started in acting?
Bridgit: I got started when I moved to California. My mom put me into this acting camp over the summer, just to have something for me to do and I wound up really liking it. I did a couple of plays after that. Then I decided this was actually something I wanted to try and pursue. I tried to get an agent, got an agent in L.A. and then things just started happening and it’s been really a fun experience.
Disnology: What advice can you give to kids who want to act or sing?
Bridgit: It’s definitely a difficult thing to pursue, especially if you’re not living in L.A.. So the most important thing is to really be committed and you have to let your friends and your family know that you really want to do it and that you’re really serious about it. Once you have the support of the people around you, make sure to be with good people and just give it your all.
